TORONTO - The 2009 PFC Starting XI is in and it's a quality product filled with 9 PFC veterans and 2 sensational new additions from the transfer market.

Between the goalposts, PFC boasts the top keeper in the league in 2008 MVP Mark C.

At defence, PFC will return to the formula that worked so well last year, playing three back. On left 'D,' Dookie resumes the role he's mastered over the past two years. In the center, is the General of Defence Rocco. And on the right replacing Jay Shumski, is Colin Campbell, a rugby player who brings years of soccer experience, toughness, and match fitness.

In the midfield, the wall of 5 formation will feature an inside/outside duo on the left comprised of Carlos and Davidinho, while on the right Ivano and Steve Ward will take on the duties. And replacing Eddy Megurian at centre mid will be former Celtic star Julius Auyeung.

Upfront, Mark R and Charles will continue the potent offensive onslaught on opposing goalkeepers.

And it doesn't end there. The depth of the squad features Eckleton, Luch, and Andrew T. - all fit, skilled options along with soccer diehard and new midfielder Marcello, bringing us to 15 players.

With a mandatory 18 per squad, PFC look to finalize discussions and set deals with the four remaining recruits on the last day of the January transfer window, which would bring us to the team cap of 19 players.

All in all this season should be exciting to say the least and better than ever.

MARKHAM - The day started out on a good note with the signing of the Asian Persuasion, and ended on sore foot - or ankle rather.

Back in December we brought you the story of Jason Shumski, who - against the knowledge or sanction of Pistolas FC - participated in some indoor soccer only to damage his ankle. Promptly, he was suspended for four months ending April 17th.

But in a twist - pun intended - it turns out that Shumski will in fact lose the entire season, as the injury continues to heal. Talk of surgery is also in the mix. He'll continue rehabilitation on the ankle throughout 2009, with hopes of a 2010 return. His ansence will definitely be missed.

At time of posting no actual photo was available, but his injury probably looked like this:

MARKHAM - After year long rumours, hopes, and dreams, dating back to BMO Field last April, the long awaited major signing is official: Julius 'Jules' Auyeung has joined Pistolas FC.

"We've been talking about bringing Jules to PFC for quite a long time now and now its a dream come true," said Romerinho. "Last year he was invited to BMO Field on loan for the Pistolas FC Intersquad game, and played so well that he obviously left a lasting impression on all present that day. Since then I've heard many a teammate comment on his skill and fitness - and they've really only seen him the one time. That's the kind of special player he is."

However, last year, his contract with Celtic was already in full swing and the dream never realized itself. Fast forward to September. Learning that some players were retiring or taking a leave of absence, PFC, led by captain Charles Eppich, began the recruitment process.

"His abilities to fool goalkeepers with his driving runs and magical shots has earned him the nickname 'The Asian Persuasion'," said Charles, "and one area we could improve on is persuading keepers to go the opposite way of our actual shots. Jules will be a perfect fit."
And just this week did the final word come down. He's in. Pistolas FC determination virtually stole this star studded player during the close of the January transfer window from Celtic.

After signing, Jules was quick to get a haircut, shedding his "lochs" for a new doo (see below). And with that look of seriousness, it's no joke: he's here to stay; here to win.

‘The Asian Persuasion’

TORONTO - With only 1 day before the final roster submission, Pistolas FC confirmed that 8 players were lost in the off season to injury, retirement, and leave of absences.

Late last year we told you about the retirement of David Breau. Since then 2007 MVP Eddy Megurian, striker Gus G., midfielders Gerry, Andrew F., Arbi S. and defender Eddie Moss join Breau in not returning this year.

So what does this mean for a new look roster? Stay tuned as we reveal at 2pm today exactly who Pistolas FC has signed during the January transfer window.
