MARKHAM - The 2006 inaugural season of the MSC League had 8 teams competing for the title. A year later in 2007, that number rose to 10 before one team had their season forfeited. This year, amidst a growing number of interest carrying over from the indoor league, the MSC Outdoor League has expanded to 12 teams.

The teams are set, and will be divided into 2 divisions. Each team will play the teams in their division twice, while facing off once against each of the teams in the other division. The regular season will therefore last 16 weeks.

At the end of the 16 week regular season, all teams will square off in a 4 week playoff to crown the champion, with 1st playing 12th, 2nd playing 11th, and so on. But as the math would have it, expect the much hated 'wild card' rule to enter somewhere in the mix, as there would be 6 winners after the first playoff week.

Games will be played at Centennial Park and Mount Joy every Sunday (including long weekend) evenings at either, 5pm, 7pm, or 9pm under the lights. Schedule to be released soon.

Opening day will kick off on Sunday May 11th and with playoffs, the entire campaign will last till Sunday September 20th.

MARKHAM - Could storied Canadian giant, Tim Hortons, commit to be the title sponsor on the jerseys of Pistolas FC in 2009? The answer right now is a very good possibility.

After reviewing the teams '2008 Corporate Partnership Package,' the sponsorship department was impressed and contacted PFC to inform the team that after reviewing their proposal, they would forward the proposal onto the Regional Marketing Team overseeing the Markham area. Soon after, the team received a call from the coffee experts informing them that they were over extended for this year, but were happy to consider the proposal for the 2009 season. PFC was also informed that they tend to start looking and committing to sponsorships between October to December. A daily favourite for most of the team, we look forward to having discussions with Tim Hortons later this year.

Markville Mall also reviewed our proposal and responded after careful deliberations. They wanted to commit to this year, but were already overextended for the 2008 season in sponsorship committments. However, due to the proximity of Centennial Park (home stadium to Pistolas FC), and the fact that they were impressed with the amount of work that's gone into our proposal, Markville Mall was also eager to engage in discussions for the 2009 season.

Markville Mall is no stranger to the Pistolas FC, as they each received gift certificates to the mall last year for winning the 2007 Centennial Cup Championship.

With the potential for both Tim Hortons and Markville Mall onboard for next year, the continued growth of the team looks promising.

TORONTO - Pistolas FC, looking to revamp its look with the 'Extreme Kit' by Lotto, is seeking potential sponsors looking to jump on this attractive, cost effective advertising venue.

The attractive 'Extreme Kit,' features a matching set of shorts and provides a black jersey that allows for a high contrast, high visibility sponsor to be emblazoned in colour on the chest.

Potential sponsors would benefit in a vast number of ways including maintaining or establishing brand recognition, reaching new potential clients, or maintaining current clientele.

The few added bonuses for potential advertisers also include banner advertisement on http://www.pistolasfc.com/ and most importantly the fact that Pistolas FC could continue to extend the Sponsorship at no additional contribution in years to come simply by wearing the jerseys.

"We're looking for the right fit for both Pistolas FC and the Sponsor. At the end of the day, this type of partnership should benefit both parties and provide the foundation of a good working relationship in years to come as both the club and business grows," said the Pistolas FC Director.

He continued saying, "Right now there are several potential sponsors who have evaluated this avenue of advertising and are quite excited with partnering with PFC, but while we are still in discussions, the door is open to any sponsors out there committed to developing a strong partnership. My ear is always open to anyone interested in being a sponsor."

With that said, both small and large businesses alike have an equal shot at landing their name on the 2008 Jerseys, which will be worn at BMO Field on April 29th, throughout the 2008 League Season, and throughout the 2008 Centennial Cup Championship - providing ample exposure.

TORONTO - In a deal that has been discussed dating back to last season, the rumour mill grew over the last month, and so with no surprise to anyone, Pistolas FC announced today they will be opening up their exhibition schedule at BMO Field in downtown Toronto on Tuesday April 29th 2008 (8pm).

"This was perhaps the worst kept secret out there," the Director of PFC said, "but were glad it's done and are looking forward to the 29th."

Of course, the rumours started to develop soon after about who they'd play. One rumour cited that various Select Squads were interested, while the strongest one leaned towards former Toronto Lynx players.

"I can confirm that I've talked to management at the Pistolas camp, and stated that we (former Lynx) wouldn't mind playing a match against them," said former professional defensive star Frank Spadafina. "As you know, the director and I are good friends, and he assured me his team was both competitive and ready."

Back at PFC Headquarters, the Director didn't deny the conversation adding, "There have been a number of discussions with a number of teams, and as you know, Frank Spadafina is a great friend who's contacted me as well about playing. Perhaps a testimonial match for Frank would be in order, but we'll see how things go. For now everything to date has only been discussion. There is still the original idea of having the traditional Red vs. Black Intersquad Match, but at this time nothing's set in stone."

The final decision should come within the next two weeks, as the team looks forward to Spring and their pre-conditioning workouts.

MARKHAM - Only a few short months ago the team was rushing in from centre field, mobbing their keeper. In the 2007 Centennial Cup Championship game, Romero once again stepped to the plate in a shootout, and, stabbing 3 out of 5 penalties helped the team to victory. In fact, in two years of shootouts, Romero never lost one stopping over 60% of all penalties he faced.

But now, after firmly recovering from a broken hip suffered two and a half years ago, he finds himself ready to assume the challenge of resuming his role of years past at striker. With the rest of the team supportive of his decision, the daunting task soon became replacing him with an experienced and talented keeper who could handle the pressure. In steps, another Mark.

Earlier today, Pistolas FC cemented their hole at keeper with their biggest signing in team history. The team bolstered its lineup by signing keeper Mark Cinerari, formerly of the North York Astros of the Canadian Professional Soccer League. Mark brings experience, size, and talent along with an immense gusto in joining the team. His presence and savvy solidifies the teams chances of being a top contender for the league cup as well as the quest to repeat as Centennial Cup Champions.

MARKHAM - Pistolas FC solidified their lineup this past week, drastically improving their lineup for the upcoming season with key signings.

The team also confirmed the loss of key players Andrew Eppich and John Shipley. Andrew, who showed great promise in camp prior to last season, must have took someone's comment, "go break a leg" literally, as he did and was out for the majority of last season. When he did practice and play he was a team favourite and though he has recovered, other commitments have kept him out of the lineup for this year. John also added an impact last year, when he was there, but like Andrew has other commitments this year, though we hope to see both in attendance from time to time cheering on new Captain Charles Eppich and the boys.

Steve K. will also not return after quite a bitter-sweet end to last years final championship winning match. In that game, Steve had his foot stepped on and subbed off. Hoping it would shake off he let it linger on. It appears now as if he broke 2-3 bones in his foot that eventually led to an undisclosed period time off and a pain - problem - that has continued and will end up costing him this year. We all wish the best for Steve, and hope he gets better. He too has told me personally that he's looking forward to watching from the stands this year, so lets give him some victories, and may take on a role as Substitution Manager. Colin 'Pizza Box for Shin Pads' will also not be returning this year.

So with these openings, the team looked to address key areas, such as experience, defence, youth, and fitness.

The Picheca Wall

In steps sweeper superstar Rocco Picheca offering to bring along brothers Luciano and Gerry - both defencemen - and if they're anything like Rocco, then the wall is up indeed.

And as we lose Andrew Eppich, in steps two new Andrews to the team. Playmaking defencemen Davidinho signed Andrew Traetto, an eager striker, who at 24 is the youngest player on the team and provides youth, stamina, and fitness to the team. Eddie Moss signed another Andrew, in Andrew Faridani, who could be a dark horse on the team since pistolasfc.com doesn't know much about him just yet.

Finally, news on the goaltending front is still in the works, with some exciting news to report in the coming days. Stay tuned.
